Work teams

A work team is a named set of users with one Manager. Teams are used to restrict work items to a group of people (Only designated team members, see Who can see and edit a work item), to narrow the assignee picker, to surface unassigned team work on Home, and optionally to provide the membership of a permission group.

Managing teams

Users → Work teams: any signed-in user can create a team; editing is governed by the team's lock type.

  • Team name must be unique. At least one member and a manager are required; the star next to a member sets them as manager, or Assign myself as manager.
  • Can modify or remove this team: Any user of the application, Any team member (the default) or Only the manager of this work team. Administrators can always modify a team. You are warned before saving a change that would lock yourself out.
  • A team whose members define a permission group can only be edited by users who manage groups, and cannot be deleted while linked.

A single user can also be added to or removed from a team from their own Work Teams tab on the Users page; the rest of the roster is left as it is.

The Work teams feature can be turned off by an administrator; the page and the team restriction options are then hidden.
