Signing in, invitations and passwords

Signing in

Sign in with your Username or Email and Password: either your username or the email address your account was confirmed with works. The session lasts five days and is extended while you keep using the app; Sign out (avatar menu) ends it immediately.

  • A wrong password or an account whose email is not confirmed yet both show Invalid login.
  • Too many failed attempts lock the account for a few minutes: The account is locked out. Please try again later. An administrator can also lock an account deliberately; in that case only an administrator can unlock it.
  • If you were given a temporary password, the first login takes you to Set a new password. You cannot use the app until you choose your own password.

While the service is in beta, a Beta chip shows beside its name at the top of the page, on the sign-in page and after you sign in.

Signing in with a passkey or Google

Besides your password, you can sign in with a passkey or a Google account once you have added it under Sign-in methods in My profile. Your password keeps working.

  • Sign in with a passkey uses your device's fingerprint, face or screen lock: pick the passkey your browser offers, with no username to type. The button is not shown in a browser without passkeys. One passkey works on the main page and on your workspace's address.
  • Sign in with Google takes you to Google and back, and appears only where your provider offers it. It signs in to the account that Google account is linked to. It never creates an account, and a matching email address is not a link. A Google account linked to no account shows No account is linked to this Google account. Sign in with your password, then link it in My profile, Sign-in methods.
  • The rest works as with a password: a blocked account or an unconfirmed email is refused, a temporary password still leads to Set a new password, and from the main page you are taken to your workspace's address.

Your workspace's address

Where your provider gives each workspace an address of its own, your workspace is at your-code. followed by the provider's domain: the workspace code in lower case. Bookmark it; the emails your workspace sends open there too.

  • Signing in on the provider's main page takes you to your workspace's address on its own, without asking for the password again. You see Signing in for a moment.
  • Signing in on the address of a workspace you do not belong to is refused, and the message names the address to sign in at. A session of one workspace that is opened on another workspace's address is ended, and you are asked to sign in again.
  • On a workspace's address the sign-in card names it (Workspace and the address), so you can tell which workspace the session will belong to before you type.
  • An address no workspace uses takes you to the product's website. Where the service has none, it shows No workspace at this address: check the spelling, or use Go to the main page to sign in there.
  • Each address keeps its own session: if you belong to two workspaces, you sign in to each one.

Creating or joining a workspace

To start a workspace of your own, see Creating a workspace. To join the one your organization already uses, see Joining a workspace, or accept the invitation your administrator sent, below.

Accepting an invitation

The invitation email tells you the username you will sign in with — it is not your email address — and carries a Set your password button. Once the password is set, sign in with the username from the email.

The invitation link is valid for 3 days, and it works only once. If it has expired, if it was already used, or if the address got mangled on its way through your mail client, the page shows This link is no longer valid. Ask your administrator to resend the invitation, or use Request a new link if you already know your username.

Password rules

Passwords must be at least 8 characters long and contain at least one digit and one character that is not a letter or digit.

Forgotten or expired passwords

  • I forgot my password on the login page asks for your Username or Email. The answer is the same whether or not the account exists. If the deployment sends email you receive reset instructions; otherwise your administrators are notified and reset it for you.
  • Reset links are valid for 24 hours and can be used once; after that the page shows This link is no longer valid and Request a new link starts the process again.
  • To change your password while signed in, use the Password tab of My profile.
