Organizing and moving work
Two pages move work around without opening each item. Neither exists in Basic mode.
Project organizer
Project organizer (side menu, needs the reorganize project work items permission) works on one project at a time — it opens on your active project, and changing the project here does not change your active project.
- Click rows to select the items to move ( selected). Only items you can edit are selectable; the project root cannot be moved.
- Pick a destination in Move to: — a project, a phase or a task, depending on what you selected. The move is saved at once. Move to new phase / task creates the phase or task and moves the selection into it.
Each row's ⋮ menu offers Go to, Add phase / task / subtask, Change type… and Delete…. Every move can be undone from the Move log.
Organize work
Administration → Organize work (administrators only) shows the whole workspace as a tree — every project, then loose items — and allows moves across projects. Remove parent takes a task out of its project: it becomes a loose item.
Rules
The hierarchy is Project → Phase → Task → Subtask: a phase goes only under a project, a task under a project or a phase, a subtask under a task. Items selected together must share a valid destination kind, and an item cannot be moved under itself or under anything it contains. Moves keep each item's restriction as stored; a moved item may therefore disappear for users the rule of its new project, phase or task excludes (see Who can see and edit a work item).
Find work items… keeps each match and the items above it visible.
