Read-only workspaces

When a workspace is read-only

A workspace is read-only, for everyone in it and administrators included, in two cases:

  • Its license ended. A trial, a subscription or a license reached the end of its last day. The workspace is not closed and nothing is removed.
  • It has no license. No license was applied yet.

The notice in the top bar says which one: Read-only until and a date, or No license. Select it to read the details.

What still works

What is refused

  • Creating, editing or deleting anything: work items, projects, customers, teams, tags, saved reports and the configuration of the workspace.
  • Uploading files.
  • Inviting, creating or unblocking users.

An attempt answers This workspace is read-only and changes nothing.

Two things also stop without anyone trying them:

  • Public forms stop accepting requests. Visitors are told the form is unavailable, and never why.
  • Reminders and notification emails are not sent. Reminders that came due in the meantime are sent when the workspace is reactivated.

How long it lasts

What ended Read-only for Then
A trial 30 days The workspace and its data are deleted
A subscription or a license 90 days The workspace and its data are deleted
Nothing: the workspace has no license As long as it has none It is never deleted for that reason

The notice in the top bar and the License page name the day of the deletion, and the workspace's administrators are told by email before it arrives.

Past that day the workspace is Due for deletion. Deletion removes the workspace with its work items, customers, files and users, and cannot be undone.

Ending the read-only state

An administrator applies a license. It takes effect at once, for everyone: nobody has to sign in again. Nothing was removed while the workspace was read-only, so everything is as it was left.

Reactivate, in the notice, opens the contact your provider set for it. If you are not an administrator, ask one of the workspace's administrators.
