Customer custom fields
Administration → Customer custom fields lets administrators add fields to every customer.
Defining a field
- Field name (unique) and Data type: Text, Integer, Decimal, Date, Yes/No or Select. The type cannot change once the field holds data.
- Per type: a Default value; Minimum and Maximum value for numbers; Decimal precision for decimals; Field options for a select (add, reorder, deactivate, remove) and a Default option.
- Field settings: Required (when editable, a value must be entered), Read-only (shows its default value, nobody can edit it — an informational field), Visible in list (becomes a column on the customers list), Filter applies (can be used in filters) and Active (inactive fields are hidden).
- Field permissions: per User role, Can view and Can edit. Administrators always have full access. Users without view rights never see the field or its filter.
Reorder on the list sets the order fields appear in on a customer.
Filter applies
A field marked Filter applies can narrow the customers list, the work items list and the spent report, and gets a column filter in the grid. Text filters by contains, numbers and dates by (min) / (max), Yes/No by Any / Yes / No, selects by option. Because narrowing a list reveals which customers have which values, treat this switch as a visibility decision.
Deleting a field
Deleting a field that has data deletes that data everywhere. If you are not sure, mark the field Inactive instead.
